Key, Emily

Biographical notes:

Emily Key was living in what is now Zimbabwe when she along with the rest of the world heard the news that Robert Falcon Scott and his companions (Wilson, Bowers, Oates and Evans) had successfully reached the South Pole only to die during the return journey. She wrote to Evelyn Cherry-Garrard whose son Apsley was a member of the expedition (serving as assistant zoologist) regarding the tragic news.

From the guide to the Emily Key collection, 1913, (Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge)
