Founded in 1870 by a group of cotton brokers and merchants, the New York Cotton Exchange is the oldest commodity exchange in New York. The Exchange, a not-for-profit corporation, consists of 450 members representing either commercial users, commission houses or themselves. Throught the years it has diversified its product line, dealing in wool and orange juice futures and in 1985 entered the world of financial futures and options.
