Chauncey Depew. Born 1834 in Peekskill, N.Y., died in 1928. American orator, politician, and railroad president. Served with the New York Central Railroad and as a New York politician. Gifted public speaker.

William Kissam Vanderbilt. Born December 12, 1849, died July 22, 1920, in Paris. Second son of William Henry Vanderbilt, active for a time in the management of the family railroads. After the death of his brother Cornelius, regarded as head of the prominent American Vanderbilt family. Like other family members, he built magnificent houses in New York and elsewhere.
