Women in Natural Resources.
Biographical notes:
The private organization "Women in Natural Resources" was formed as a response to a 1979 meeting of women clerical staff employed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). At this meeting, participants expressed concern over male dominance in the department responsible for the state's natural resource conservation. The group formally organized in order to represent all DNR women (clerical and professional) in Lansing as well as in field offices. The organization promoted career development, education and job performance. By the year 2000, most of the women in the group felt that the majority of the goals had been achieved, so they decided to disband as a formal organization.
