Doar, Harriet
Biographical notes:
Harriet Fraser Doar was born in Charlotte. In 1930, she worked as a summer intern for The Charlotte News prior to beginning her studies that fall at Duke University. Returning to the newspaper the following summer, Doar worked there off and on over a twenty year period. In 1949, Doar became a writer for The News and Observer in Raleigh, N.C., where she stayed until 1951. Doar returned to newspaper writing in 1959, this time with The Charlotte Observer. She retired in 1982 and was inducted into the North Carolina Journalism Hall of Fame in 1993.
