Colonel William Morrison Robinson, Jr. was born in Augusta, Georgia, 1891. He moved to Quincy, Florida in 1950. His active military service in the United States Army Corps of Engineers included tours of duty in both world wars, in France from 1917-1919, and in the Pacific from 1943-1945. Colonel Robinson was a graduate of the Georgia School of Technology with degrees in science and civil engineering. He received an honorary degree of doctor of humanities from Florida State University in 1955.
