Gooden, Arthur Henry, 1879-1971
Variant namesBiographical notes:
Born in Britain, Arthur Henry Gooden immigrated to the United States around the turn of the century. He worked on a ranch in San Joaquin Valley, California before he turned his talents to writing. He wrote stories for magazines, Hollywood screenplays, and, novels of the West. Combining his first-hand knowledge of cowboy life with compelling dialogues amongst his characters, Gooden attained popularity with his readers from the 1930s on, and his works merited reprinting on both sides of the Atlantic. He also wrote six novels under the name Brett Rider.
