Biographical notes:
Charles Zavitz recorded the first yield tests on cereal grains at Guelph in 1887. He was the first to introduce soybeans to Canada and made it a commercial crop. He also established alfalfa as a premier forage crop. The Robertson Associate Award was inaugurated in 1931 as a memorial to Dr. James W. Robertson, founder and first president of the Canadian Seed Growers' Association.
