Dial, 1976; died Columbia, S.C., 6 July 1994; founder, Palmetto Girls State, 1947; charter member, Board of Associates of Converse College; chair, South Carolina Garden Symposium; vice-chair, Democratic Party of South Carolina, 1960-1964; awarded honorary Doctor of Laws degree by University of South Carolina, 1969.
