Wilma Neruda-Norman was born into a famous family of musicians, and taught to play the violin at an early age by her father, Josef Neruda. She toured Europe with her family to great acclaim, and she found solo success from Sweden to France. She married composer Ludvig Norman, and commenced annual concerts in England; she was also professor of violin at the Swedish Academy of Music. She later married Sir Charles Hallé. She was equally successful as a solo artist and as part of a quartet.
