Biographical notes:
Leander Newton Trammell, Georgia legislator, was born 5 June 1830, in White County, Georgia, and died 29 June 1900, in Atlanta, Georgia. He studied law in Blairsville, Georgia, attended law school in Lebannon, Tennessee, and practiced law in Ringgold (1858) and Calhoun (1866), Georgia. Trammell represented Catoosa County in the Georgia legislature (1861), was a member of the Constitutional Convention (1867; 1877), was elected to and made president of the Georgia Senate (1870, 1873), and was made a member of the Georgia Railroad Commission (1881-1899; re-appointed four times).
