Native of Abbeville District, S.C.; daughter of Joel and Isabella Elizabeth Marshall Smith; second wife of David Wyatt Aiken; diary documents events in area currently locataed in Greenwood County, S.C.; Aiken family lived at a house called Stony Point, which was Virginia Aiken's family homestead, until July 1873 when the family relocated to a "more humble house" at Cokesbury, S.C.
