Biographical notes:

Arva Colbert Floyd, missionary, educator, and author, was born 27 November 1898, in Chipley, Georgia, and died 12 June 1973, in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his B.D. from Emory University (1924) and his Ph. D. from Yale University (1939). Author of WHITE MAN--YELLOW MAN, and editor of THE DIARY OF YOUNG J. ALLEN, Floyd was a teaching missionary to Japan (1924-1928), and professor of Christian Mission and World Religions at Candler School of Theology, Emory University (1934-1967).
