George Alley (December 30, 1792 - November 18, 1859) was born in Lynn, Mass. He was married to Mary Symonds in 1822 and moved with his family to Salem about ten years later where they were taught the gospel by Erastus Snow and Benjamin Winchester. They operated a store in Salem. The Alleys were Baptized in 1842, and moved to Nauvoo that same year. George Alley had a store in Nauvoo, the main business of which was shoemaking. The Family crossed the Mississippi in the summer of 1846. On September 20, 1848, they entered the Salt Lake Valley.
