Gish, Wesley Gibson
Biographical notes:
Wesley Gibson Gish (1896-1985) was a petroleum geologist and oil company executive. Gish’s worked as a field geologist at White Eagle Oil and Refining Company from 1922-1924. He then moved to Sinclair Oil and Gas Company from 1925-1936 where he worked as Chief Geologist, Division Superintendent and Vice-President. His primary responsibility at Sinclair was overseeing leases and properties in the East Texas oil field from the Tyler, Texas office. He served as Transwestern Oil Company’s Vice-President from 1937-1946 and as Vice-President of Deep Rock Oil and Refining Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma for three years. Gish continued his work in the oil and gas industry as an independent consultant from 1951-1967.
Gish was a charter member of the Kansas Geological Society and the American Institute of Professional Geologists and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the American Geological Association and the South Texas Geological Society.
