Biographical notes:
The Bureau of Governmental Research was established in 1959 as a research and service arm of the history and political science department to provide opportunities for staff and students to engage in research projects to advance the understanding of the governmental process, and to gather information concerning state and local government. Among the issues addressed were voting, campaign finance, population shifts, race relations, and welfare.
