Biographical notes:

Captain in Confederate Army, native of Charleston, S.C., and professor of mathematics at Furman University, where he organized his students into a company known as the "Brooks Troop" [originally an infantry unit known as the "University Riflemen"], who were designated as Co. B of the S.C. Hampton Legion cavalry battalion. Following Civil War, Lannau was professor of mathematics at Wake Forest University;

Collection consists of writings and pamphlets of Lanneau, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, amd professor of mathematics at Furman College, where he organized his students into a company known as the "Brooks Troop" that later joined Hampton's South Carolina Legion.
