Biographical notes:

The Hargrave and Hill General Store in Grand Marais, Michigan was popularly known the "H&H" store. The store was built in 1895 and was operated by Wilkes W. Hargrave and Roy C. Hill untill Hill bought Hargrave's interest in 1915. In 1934, Hill's son, Irving G. Hill, became sole owner, continuing the business until 1951. It was then purchased by Warren and Jacobites, who owned another general store in Grand Marais, and was never reopened. The building was torn down in the spring of 1973. In its peak years, the store grossed around $100,000 annually.
