Biographical notes:
The Wood family of Pennsylvania, descendants of James Wood (d. ca. 1760), an Irish Quaker immigrant, were important iron manufacturers, with works at Wooddale, Del., Conshohocken, Pa. and McKeesport, Pa. The surviving enterprises were consolidated into the Alan Wood Iron & Steel Company before World War I.
