Clergyman, Educator, Librarian.
Born in Columbus, OH, June 3, 1926, the son of Edward Herman and Grace Belle (McCoy) Zimpfer, he attended Capital University in Columbus, and earned an M.A. in Latin at the University of Michigan. He entered the seminary at Capital University, graduating in 1950, ordained into the American Lutheran Church, assigned to First St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of the North Side in Pittsburgh, PA, and later to Zion Lutheran Church in Brentwood, PA. He took summer classes at Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 1957, and left the ministry in 1962 to attend Columbia University, where he graduated in 1964 with an M.L.S. He became Librarian for Boston University School of Theology, a position which he held until his death on February 1, 1989. He taught courses in Western Christian Mysticism and Spirituality for Ministry.
