Sammis, E. M.

Biographical notes:

Before settling in western Washington, Edward M. Sammis operated a photography business in Visalia, Calif. By 1860, he was working in Olympia, Wash., and by 1865, he had moved to Seattle. Sammis is most famous for his 1865 portrait of Chief Seattle.
