Biographical notes:

Izhak Perlman (b. Aug. 31, 1945, Tel Aviv, British Palestine) is a violisit, conductor, music teacher. He studied at the Julliard School under Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay. In 1958 and 1964 he perfomred on the Ed Sullivan Show and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1963. He currently teaches at the Julliard School and is the founder Perlman Music Program. In the early 2000s, Perlamn began conducting in early 2000s. He plays the Soil Stradivarius violin of 1714, Guarneri del Gesu 1743 'Sauret', and the Carlo Bergonzi 1740 'ex-Kreisler'. At the age of four, Perlman contracted polio and has walked using leg braces and crutches since; he plays the violin while seated.
