Formed by the consolidation of Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad Company with Columbia and Augusta Railroad Company in 1869; part of the Richmond and Danville system (1887-1894); controlled by Southern Railway Company after 1894; ran from Charlotte, N.C., to Augusta, Ga. (191 miles).
