Biographical notes:

Methodist Episcopal clergyman and bishop, served various churches in Pittsburgh, Pa., Plainfield, N.J., Minneapolis, Minn., and elsewhere; delegate to the General Conference; elected to episcopacy and assigned to the St. Paul, Minn., area where Mitchell served for eight years; while in Minnesota raised substantial monies for Lawrence and Hamline colleges and other Methodist educational institutions; appointed to the Philippines in 1924 where he remained until his retirement in 1928.
