Biographical notes:

Pariser was born in China on December 8, 1923. He received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1944, and his Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1950. He worked as a research chemist for DuPont's Jackson Laboratory. He collaborated with Robert Parr, and helped develop the Pariser-Parr-Pople method. In 1954, he began work in the field of polymer science. He was named Research Supervisor of DuPont's polymer division, and by 1974, he had been named Director, Pioneering Research, Elastomer Chemicals Department. He oversaw the development of new elastomer products.
