Physicist and crystallographer. Graduated in physics from the University of Adelaide, Australia 1947; Ph.D. under P. Bowden in Cambridge, England, 1949; joins Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Division of Tribophysics working on electron diffraction and electron microscopy.
