McKnight received his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1969. He joined the faculty of KU in 1970 as an Assistant Instructor of Curriculum and Instruction, reaching full Professor status in 1987. He has held several administrative positions within the School of Education, most recently as the Director of Instructional Resources.
