Bourhyte, C. B.
Biographical notes:
Bourhyte was an Engineer in the 5th Michigan Infantry at the Detroit Barracks. Alpheus S. Williams (1810-1878) served as a member of Congress, 1875-1877 and 1877-1878. He studied at Yale, 1832-1833. In 1836 Williams moved to Detroit (Mich.) and practiced law. He served as Judge of Probate for Wayne County, 1840-1844. During the Mexican War, 1847-1848, Williams served as a Lt. Col. of the 1st Michigan Infantry Volunteers. During the Civil War, 1861-1865, he served as a Brig. Gen. of the 12th corps in the battles of South Montain, Antietam and Gettysburg, and the 20th corps in the siege of Atlanta. In 1866, Williams was appointed one of the commissioners to adjust the military claims of Mo. He also served as minister resident to the Republic of Salvador, 1866-1869.
