Zachary Grey (1688-1766), antiquary, was born at Burniston, Yorkshire, on 6 May 1688. He entered Jesus College, Cambridge, in 1704, and migrated to Trinity Hall in 1707 (LL.B., 1709; LL.D., 1720). He was ordained deacon and priest in 1711, and became Rector of Houghton Conquest in 1725, and Vicar of St Giles and St Peter's, Cambridge. Grey published pamphlets against dissenters, and was a critic of William Warburton. He died at Ampthill, Bedfordshire, on 25 November 1766.
