Biographical notes:

Denver, Colo. mayor 1904-1912, 1916-1918.

Born in Mount Union, Pennsylvania. Worked for the Adams Express Co., and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Moved to Denver in 1878. Worked at Fisher Store and in real estate business. In 1884 elected City Clerk. President Cleveland selected him as Postmaster of Denver. Appointed to Denver Fire and Police Board and Denver Board of Public Works. In 1904 elected Mayor of Denver. Served two terms. Lost election in 1912 but re-elected in 1916. Worked on beautification projects throughout Denver. Died in 1918.
