Biographical notes:

George Washington Collier, born 1813, was one of the fourteen children of Meredith Collier and Elizabeth Gray. He moved with his family to DeKalb County in 1823. One of his early jobs was to carry mail between Dacatur, Georgia and Allatoona, Georgia. He continued this career by being the Postmaster of Atlanta. He owned a large amount of land in the Atlanta area including Five Points, owned a general store, and built the Aragon Hotel in 1892.
