Biographical notes:
Margot Clark was born in St. Louis and received her doctorate in art history from Washington University in 1975. While in St. Louis she taught art at John Burroughs School and in the city school system. From 1970 through 1974 she was a lecturer in the Fine Arts Department at Indiana University. She held the position of Professor of Art at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, from 1975 until her retirement in 1992. Many of her papers and presentations focused on metaphysical aspects of the work of Max Beckmann, as well as topics relating to his use of alchemical and gnostic imagery.
