Biographical notes:
The 167th Infantry Regiment (formerly the 4th Ala.) was part of the 42nd Infantry Division, or the "Rainbow Division." The 42nd was comprised of soldiers from 26 states and the District of Columbia hence covering the nation "like a rainbow."
The 167th's service in France during World War I included front line duty as well as 4 months in the Army of Occupation on the Rhine River in Germany.
