Biographical notes:
Robert Jerome Lipshutz, Atlanta attorney and long-time political ally of Jimmy Carter, was born on December 27, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia. He served as legal counsel in the 1976 Jimmy Carter Presidential Campaign, and he served as Counsel to the President from January 21, 1977, until September 30, 1979. He resigned on August 10, 1979 to return to law practice in Georgia, and was involved in the establishment of the Carter Presidential Library and the administration of the Jimmy Carter Personal Assets Trust.
