Biographical notes:

The Belgian painter Théo van Rysselberghe was born in Ghent in 1862. He was one of the founders of the avant-garde society Les XX, whose exhibitions oriented him towards French Neo-impressionism. In 1898 he settled in France, where he died in 1926.
