Biographical notes:

J. & J.F. Head was a Boston, Ma. mercantile firm established by two brothers, John F. and Joseph Head, Jr. in 1810. Their father, Joseph, was also a Boston merchant. The firm was dissolved in 1813 after the death of John. He died while on a business trip in Cadiz. Joseph continued to operate a similar type of business until at least 1835.
