Sierra Land & Mineral Corporation (San Francisco, Calif.)
Biographical notes:
Gold mining firm with property at West Point, Calaveras County, Calif. President was J.E. Mallon. The Mallon family established a glassworks in San Francisco (1858) and soon became known as premiere makers of stained glass on Pacific coast. Mallon's factory employed 43 men in 1891. Later generations branched out into real estate and mining. Most of documents in collection are signed by B.L.A. Harker, Secretary of Sierra Land & Mineral. R.V. Montgomery was an important investor. Certain items pertain to activities at specific locations. There is a statement, for example, of expenses at Stenshaw Mine of Dominion Mining Organization (1922). Other mining operations mentioned in correspondence include: Sandwich Gold Mining Company; Marbleview Placer Claims; and Center Star Mine (1920).
