Biographical notes:

After service in the Mexican War, Nathan Kimball became a general officer in the Union army; subsequently engaged in the life insurance business in Indianapolis, 1872-1873; and in 1879 was postmaster at Ogden, Utah. The son, a graduate of the Military Academy, retired with the rank of captain in 1894; he and his wife Stella A. Kimball owned real estate in Jefferson and Kitsap counties, and had mining interests in Colville County, Washington.
