Power, William, fl.1599-1644.
Biographical notes:
William Power was elected a fellow at Christ's College Cambridge before 1599 and remained there until at least 1644. He was part of the High Anglican faction in the college, active in a campaign to oust the Puritan contingent in a 1609 election and, later, against the more moderate followers of Richard Meade. In later years Power was attacked as a "Papist" by soldiers while on his way to preach at St. Mary's. One of his students in college was the non-conformist Thomas Goodwin.
