Biographical notes:

Faculty organization. The Obsorn Research Club, first organized as the Natural Science Research Club on February 7, 1920, was renamed the Obsorn Research Club on January 7, 1921. The club organized to allow faculty actively engaged in research to meet and hear reports on research work being done at Iowa State University. Members met as scientists and investigators, not as instructors, professors, or deans. The club is named after Dr. Herbert Osborn, ISU B.S. 1879 (the first ISU student in zoology). Dr. Osborn taught at Iowa State University from 1883 to 1898.
