Biographical notes:

Born in Constable, Franklin County, N.Y., 10 Aug. 1807. Graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont, in 1829. Moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and taught at Silas S. Kingsley's school for boys before opening the Buffalo Academy in 1836. Later he attended Auburn Theological Seminary, served as chaplain to the 94th Regiment, New York Volunteers, and established the Wells Street Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. He died in Buffalo on 24 June 1895.
