Pugh was the wife of Colonel William W. Pugh, planter of Woodlawn Plantation, Assumption Parish, La., and the sister of Francis T. Nicholls (Confederate general in the Civil War and governor of Louisiana from 1877 to 1880).

Josephine Nicholls Pugh was the wife of Colonel William W. Pugh, planter and owner of Woodlawn Plantation in Assumption Parish, La. She was also the sister of Francis T. Nicholls, a Confederate general in the Civil War and governor of Louisiana from 1877 to 1880.
