Variant namesBiographical notes:
Dr. Russell F. Doolittle has been a professor of chemistry at UCSD since 1962. He is the director of a laboratory that has conducted substantial investigations into the evolutionary and structural aspects of proteins. In 1979, Doolittle's laboratory successfully identified the structure of the amino acid sequence for the human fibrinogen molecule. In conjunction with this work, Doolittle created Newat, a database of known protein sequences against which other protein sequences could be compared in order to establish their identity.
