Biographical notes:

Holman was the treasurer of the Holyoke Machine Co. The company was founded in 1863 to make castings and shaftings and to provide general mill work and machining services as well as water-wheels, gearing, turbines, etc. The Holyoke Water-Power Co. was incorporated in 1859 to provide water-power to mills and shops.
