Richard Peck, novelist, playwright, and critic, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and educated at the University of Wisconsin. Peck taught English at University of Virginia and later at Temple University. Peck directed Temple's University Center in Rome for several years, and during his tenure at Temple had several of his plays produced by the Players Club of.
