The company was incorporated in Michigan on April 24, 1869. Conveyed to Chicago and West Michigan Railroad Company on December 28, 1878.
Agreed to consolidate with Lake Shore Railroad Company of Western Michigan to form Chicago and Michigan Lake Shore Railroad Company on July 12, 1869. Agreed to consolidate with Grand Rapids and Holland Railroad Company and The Montague, Pentwater and Manistee Railroad Company on October 25, 1871. Agreed to Consolidate with Muskegan and Big Rapids Railroad Company on July 27, 1872. Placed in receivership on November 11, 1876.
