George Edmund "Ed" Ewing was born in Shelby, Ala. and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1955. He has served in a wide variety of public relations positions including stints as Editor for the Thiokol Chemical Corporation (1962-1963), Director of the Alabama Bureau of Publicity and Information (1963-1965), Press secretary to Governors George (1965) and Lurleen (1967-1968) Wallace, and as the National Campaign Coordinator for the Wallace for President Campaign (1968). Since 1979 Ewing has owned and operated Tel-Ed Communications.

Ewing was born to George Leroy and Florence Etta (Poole) Ewing at Wilton, Shelby Co., Ala., on 1932 Aug. 30.

He graduated from the University of Ala. in 1955 and after service in the U.S. Army worked in the radio and advertising business. He married Carolyn Broadaway in 1958. He became the Director of the Ala. Bureau of Publicity and Information in 1963, and served as Gov. Lurleen B. Wallace's press secretary from 1967-1968 May.

In 1968 Ewing was the national campaign coordinator for the George C. Wallace presidential campaign. From 1969-1979 he worked at the public relations firm of Viewpoint Enterprises. Ewing formed his own public relations firm, Tel Ed Enterprises, 1979.
