Biographical notes:

Born in Watertown, New York, May 15, 1805, son of Rev. Elisha Morgan of Black River Baptist Association. Entered Lowville Academy at the age of 17, assistant teacher until 1827. Studied law with Charles Doyan who hired him to take charge of his business while Doyan was State Senator. In 1929 he emigrated to Ann Arbor and worked in the law office of Gideon Wilcoxen. Admitted to the bar in 1836 and held many school village and city offices. First Presbyterian of Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern Railroad, Cashier and Director of the Bank of Washtenaw.
