Biographical notes:

Pioneer Catholic theologian in Christian-Jewish relations, Eva Fleischner fled Austria as a child because her father, a Jew who had converted to Catholicism, feared the family would be targeted by the Nazis. She graduated from Radcliffe College (A.B. 1946, A.M. 1962) and received her doctorate at Marquette University, where she taught from 1972 to 1991. The author of The Christian and the Holocaust (1970) and Pope Pius XII and the Holocaust (2002), among others, she has lectured widely and served on the boards of the U.S. Bishops' Office of Catholic-Jewish Relations and the International Catholic-Jewish Historical Commission.
