Educator and minister, Deborah (Cannon) Patridge Wolfe was born in Cranford, N.J., in 1916, and educated at New Jersey State Teachers College (B.S. 1937) and Columbia University (M.A. 1938, Ed.D. 1945). She was on the faculty at Tuskegee Institute (1938-1950), serving as head of the Department of Elementary Education and as director of the graduate studies program, and at Queens College, City University of New York, where she was professor of education. In 1970 she was ordained and in 1975 appointed associate minister in the First Baptist Church of Cranford.
